February's BOM

February's block of the month is a slightly different take on Cluck Cluck Sew's Scrappy Strips Quilt Tutorial.

We're changing it up a little though.  We'll be making 10 1/2 inch blocks (10 inch finished), and to do that, we'll use:

3 strips cut @ 1 1/2 inches, 

2 strips cut @ 2 inches and 

2 strips cut @ 2 1/2 inches. 

We're also making two sets of blocks.  One set will be reds, pinks and oranges with white and the other set will be greens and blues.  This 2nd set includes the entire range of light to dark greens through aqua and teal to all the blues (light to dark) with white.  These will be used for quilts for children, so using some fun kids' prints is encouraged!  Also, if you picked up some of the strips available at the January meeting, be sure to include those in the pink/orange/red blocks. January's BOM

January's block of the month is the "Japanese X and Plus" block. The colors should be red, apple/lime green, royal blue with a white background.  These will finish at 12.5 inches finished, or 13 inches raw edged. The tutorial can be found here.

Additionally, we'll be doing 10 inch heart blocks in Police Blue with low volume backgrounds, for the partner of the fallen office, Jake Gutierrez, of Tacoma Police using the Cluck Cluck Sew tutorial.

December Meeting Minutes & Year in Review

We have reached the end of 2016!  Thank you to all of the members for making this a great year, a successful guild, and sharing all of your lovely projects with us.  Our fantastic president, Christine, wrote up a fun review outlining all of the wonderful things that happened this year.  You can click HERE to read a review of what our guild accomplished in 2016.  This has been one of the best years for our guild and there are some fantastic ideas, events, speakers, demos and more coming up in 2017!

The December meeting did cover some important business; please see our meeting minutes to find out all of the details.  After that, we spent the remainder of the evening sharing with Sew & Tell (how cute is that Alpaca quilt?) and then sharing more with the annual Secret Santa Swap.

Finally, don't forget to pay your 2017 dues!  There is still time to do so via PayPal.

Holiday Social - December 15th

Has everyone been sewing happily away?  Christmas is fast approaching and we have come out our annual holiday social!  Here are some things you will want to bring for the upcoming event...

November's meeting
