Call for submissions! We're going to the Proctor Art Fest and Crystal Quilters Quilt Show!

Hey there! We know our members have some awesome quilts, minis, and other quilted projects to share at the guild's upcoming shows. We'll be at the Proctor Art Fest on August 6th and the Crystal Quilters Quilt show September 30 through October 1st.  Sounds like a long time from now, but they'll be here before you know it.

What are we looking for?  We're a modern quilt guild! We'd like to present projects that are modern and fun. What about the "Death Star"?  What about "Better with Cheddar"?  What about that amazing Swoopy black and white geese quilt?  And hey, and all those Paint Chip challenges?  Bring it on!

These are our first real opportunities to show a variety of modern quilts to the public that represent our guild and we need your help.

For Proctor Art Fest, we need a minimum of 8-12 throw size quilts or bigger. We need also need minis!  We have the both the bowling alley and our 10X10 foot booth to display our lovely work.

For the Crystal Quilters Show, we will need 15-25 quilts.   We're the guest guild and want to wow these ladies! These quilts will all need labels plus a description of your inspiration or the story behind the quilt.

Please bring your labeled submissions to our June Meeting.  It must be labeled so that we can track it and you.  If you can't make that meeting, take a picture of it and send a brief description to our email at tacomamqg@gmail.com.  Easy Peasy. 

We will also set up a drop of site in July (TBA) but you must send us a picture of your submission in advance. Bring them out of the closets and off the couch, it's time to hit the streets! 

June's BOM

This month's block of the month is a little different from previous months - you could win all of the blocks to take home! Each block you bring will be one entry into the drawing, and you can bring as many blocks as you'd like for more entries!

The tutorial is from Quiltville, and we'll be using the dimensions in the pattern in red print for a 12 inch block, using 2 1/2 inch strips. Otherwise the directions are the same.

Don't forget to save the leftover bonus squares (sewn together or not) for a second drawing, for these leftover bonus squares! Four bonus squares will be one entry for the bonus drawing.

By Law revisions

As discussed at our last meeting we're ready to make a few changes to our existing By Laws. Mostly this involves rearranging the officer positions a bit to better reflect those duties.

Please take a moment to review the edits here. New additions are highlighted, text to be removed is crossed out. We'll be voting on these changes first thing at our June meeting.

May's Meeting

More committees sign ups, great BOM, clothesline bowls, retreat sign ups, an exciting pillow swap announcement and a great pep talk from Crystal Quilters! Check out our minutes if you missed it, and if you'd like to participate in the pillow swap instructions can be found here. Completed pillows will be exchanged white elephant style at our July social.

May's BOM

This month it's the spool block in yellow and orange with a low volume background. Include anywhere from 1-4 spools on your block to mix it up. Check out the free pattern to get spooling!
